Lots of #Covid vaccine denial. I think that what's going on here is still denial, in that many people believe Covid is mild.

"Vaccine denial and other shit can only flourish in an environment where most people are already vaccinated and the danger of disease seems abstract because of it."

3 Toronto reports: all showing people getting sicker.

First up:
2023 Occupational Health and Safety Report, City of Toronto.

Graphs show a marked increase in lost time severity rate and WSIB invoiced costs, particularly starting 2022.

"The costs associated with claims for
mental/emotional illnesses or disorders represented the largest portion of costs incurred in 2023."

I was accosted by a COVID denier last night at a Christmas party. He said “No worse than the flu” and I just curled up inside and said nothing. To my surprise, he started to back track and said “I could be wrong” 🫢 silence and withdrawal works wonders 🫢🥰 People like to argue. I don’t. The kicker is - he is very vulnerable. He has had a heart transplant! 😳 #COVID

This was a really cathartic watch. An incisive, documentary-length analysis of how we got to where we are with the forever plague, including the Koch Network's propaganda campaign and the betrayal of liberals who embraced the unscientific Great Barrington Declaration, all but desperate to underestimate the long-term health consequences of letting #covid rip:

It would be bad enough if #covid only fucked with one of these things (blood flow, metabolism, immune tolerance), but it fucks with all of them 🫠

I feel like I'm witnessing one of those angels from Evangelion, except the cosmic horror is a nanoscale swarm instead of a kaiju, and it maims more often than it kills outright. Absolutely biblical that an airborne virus can disguise itself as a cold and then take people apart like Jenga blocks

U.K.-based doctors, nurses and hospital porters with long COVID are suing the NHS for compensation, saying they were not given proper protection during the height of the pandemic and that their lives have been devastated by severe health complications. Context News explains more.

Special shout-out to @violetblue for all of her great work getting the message out there regarding COVID (and other viruses).

Her work rightfully earned the top-spot in my "Pandemic" section of this year's "Great Reads of 2024" blog post.

As we enter year six I get the sense that more people are coming around to the idea that #COVID isn't going away. Please share articles and ways to prevent infection on FB. Become part of the background noise for your friends, acquaintances and families. I think some of them are ready to listen.

We HAVE to get this info out of the echo chamber

#tfw you email an athletically inclined relative to wish them a happy birthday and make a joke about how you spent your birthday lying in bed while they probably spent theirs doing something disgusting like hiking or rock-climbing, and they respond that well actually, they spent it in bed too because they're recovering from "probably #COVID" again and this time felt worse than the "handful of times" they had it previously.
